| The seeds of creation for Sunset Mountain Village were planted 30+ years ago, in the youth of SME's owners. As children they reveled in nature…fishing, camping and hiking were some of their favorite things. To their dismay they found that adulthood held little opportunity for such pastimes. As their lives grew more hectic their desire to reconnect with the natural world intensified. And so began their search for a special place in which they could recreate the relaxing experiences they treasured, far away from concrete and steel. They envisioned mountains and rivers, fresh air and cerulean skies, a setting where skiing, fly fishing and hiking would be de rigeur and where, in the gentle hush of the woods, they could hear the wisdom of their souls.
This very special place was found near Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Pocahontas County, WV. Today it is known as Sunset Mountain Village. Sprawling horizon lines, 3800 foot elevations, mature hard woods, spring fed ponds and spectacular Allegheny Mountain views create a magical setting that reflects the dream of SME's owners, a dream which is now available to be shared with others who seek a beautiful, truly stress-free mountain getaway.
