The owners of Sunset Mountain Enterprises, J.F. and Suzanne Hodges, bring to the table unmatched education and experience in construction and land development in this region of West Virginia. J.F. graduated with honors from The University of Kentucky's MBA program in 1993. The son of a builder and land developer and the previous owner of a land excavation company in the Charleston, WV area, he has worked on land development sites for 20+ years. Suzanne graduated from Marshall University with honors, receiving a Bachelors degree in Finance in 1990. She began working as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch in 1991 and received her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 1999. In 2005 Suzanne left Merrill to focus on land development and sales full time and J.F. added to his duties the role of overseeing Intrawest’s Placemaking development and construction operations at Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
 In 2000, when the Hodges’ founded SME Inc., their vision was to develop a mountain retreat community that was close to Snowshoe Mountain and within minutes of the state’s best trout streams. They dreamed of creating a neighborhood with desirable home sites: high in elevation offering panoramic mountain views, private, serene and easily accessible. That vision ultimately led to the creation of Sunset Mountain Village in 2001. Since its inception SMV has blossomed into a community of owners who share a love of its beautiful land and who find joy in the simple pleasures of mountain living.
J.F. and Suzanne built their mountain retreat in Sunset Mountain Village in 2006, a log home that is now their full-time, year around residence. They also expanded SMV to include the newly developed Summit Highlands, offering the most spectacular home sites in the Pocahontas County/Snowshoe area of West Virginia. In the fall of 2008 they will begin offering construction management and green-oriented building services.
